La La Land • Poppy, Betsy & Ella

Passing her messenger bag over her head, Poppy tamed up her unruly blonde and dip-dyed teal locks in a tight, but messy bun, heading towards the front door to unlock it during the process. Without her mother being around, with was a tad more easier to get stuff done, and besides, she got to be more independent, but she still couldn’t but the fact of why she went on work trips every once in a week. Once out, she locked the door. All she needed now is to have a good time with her two best friends.

She chuckled to herself as she walked down the street. She already knew the reason of this sudden organization of the sleepover. Both Ella and Betsy wanted to know more about her crush on Brady. Although she wouldn’t admit it, the fact of what would happen next scared her a bit. In reality, she had stopped liking guys a long time ago. She got her heart broken many times, reason why she has formed a large wall of protection against love in all sort of ways. This is something that her two best friends try to break down, but what if he didn’t like her? What would happen? She didn’t know, but she didn’t want to think of it.

She waved at Betsy as they met at Ella’s front door, and by ringing the bell, Ella greeted them cheerfully. Poppy grinned widely. “Hey!” She greeted back.

Bopping her head along with the beat of the music, Betsy walked around her room and gathered pajamas along with other things she would need for the sleepover before tossing them carelessly into her spare backpack. Poppy had informed her of her crush on Brady, which meant Betsy wanted to know every detail of it, something which had become a normalcy for the three girls since sixth grade. They knew everything about each other, even more than their individual parents. Slamming her drawer shut with her foot, Betsy tossed her hair up into pony tail, making sure it stayed out of her face. She shut of all of the lights in her room before grabbing her bag and walking down the hallway to her fathers office.

Knocking on the open door, Betsy poked her head in, her father looking up from the paper he was currently grading. “Hey, can you give me a ride over to Ella’s?” She asked, adjusting the straps on her backpack as she spoke. Her father laughed, rolling his eyes as he took off his glasses. “Hey dad, can I have your permission to sleepover at Ella’s house? Oh sure, sweetheart! Thank you for asking for my permission like a good child!” He mocked, but stood up from his desk nonetheless. Betsy just rolled her eyes with a laugh as her dad walked towards her. “Of course you can, nugget.” He said, leading the way out of the office and down the steps. “Your mom is out with Aunt Jess, something to do with being more social.” He informed her, shrugging as they both slipped their shoes on before heading to the garage.

The car ride to Ella’s was pretty silent, only small talk about what had been going on in life with the two of them lately. As they pulled up to the familiar Michalchuk house, Betsy leaned over, giving her father a peck on the cheek. “Thanks, daddy. I’ll call you before I go to bed.” She said, giving him a bright smile before hopping out of the car and bounding up the steps as he drove away. She greeted Poppy, who was already on the steps, with a hug. “You are telling us everything tonight. And I mean everything.” She jokingly warned a few seconds before Ella opened the door. She smiled at her best friend as she walked in, dropping her bag by the door in the process. “So what’s on the agenda for tonight? Besides discussing Poppy’s interest in a member of the male population at Degrassi.” She asked, winking at Poppy before grinning.

So what’s on the agenda for tonight? Besides discussing Poppy’s interest in a member of the male population at Degrassi.

Ella bit into her thick chocolate bar and laughed a little as Betsy announced that, closing the door behind her and re-latching the locks. “Movies, as per usual,” she explained, smiling, “And sleeping at three ion the morning is optional,” she chuckled, as she chasse-ed and did a small split jete, landing right next to the two of her best friends. Turning slightly, Ella then dropped herself on the couch nearby, finishing her chocolate bar and pushing the collection of DVD’s towards the direction of the brunette and the pale blonde in front of her. “Selection is all up to you.” she said, then only running her hands through her blonde hair, keeping the stray strands away from her face. Looping her hair behind her ear, she smileed.
